Advantages of the use SEO Techniques

SEO is the art of making websites search engines friendly for high ranking. Mostly people do not look beyond the two pages of result of search engines.

Few would argue that SEO is potentially the most important search marketing approach for marketers since most searchers click on the natural listings.

Indeed, research shows that some searchers NEVER click on the sponsored listings. Others still don't realise these links are paid-for.

Generally, the 80:20 rule holds true with 80% of the clicks on natural listings and 20% of the clicks on the paid listings as suggested by the first Stats box earlier in this section.

A key benefit of SEO is that it is relatively cost-effective since there is no payment to the search engines for being placed there. This is particularly important for the 'search head', the high volume, low intent phrases shown in Table 1 which can be expensive in paid-search. But it can also be useful for generating visitors on the long tail of search shown in Figure 7. Many companies bid on these phrases through paid-search, so giving opportunities for those who use an SEO strategy for the tail.

Additionally, the cost of SEO is relatively fixed, independent of click volume. Effectively, the cost per click from SEO declines through time after initial optimization costs and lower ongoing optimization costs. Conversely, paid-search is essentially a variable cost.

So, there are no media costs, but resources are necessary for key phrase analysis and to complete optimization on the website pages.

What Is The Importance of "C Class IP Address" In SEO?

When many of novice webmasters even do not know, what is IP address, a discussion among seasoned webmaster is going on about the role of C class IP addresses in search engine optimization. Almost all SEO gurus have their own opinions about ranking methodologies and Google is clever enough to reveal its myths. However most of these search engine specialists agree on one point and that is “getting quality backlinks to improve your rankings” and the whole story starts in next section where they have to define the “good backlinks” and “bad links”.

Interlinking of sites is the worst ever thing which a webmaster can do to get all of his sites penalized by search engines. Now normal question is “how search engines like Google detect interlinking of my own sites” and the answer reveals the things very clearly. Its your IP address that gives search engines information about the autonomy of sites. If its so serious then how to avoid interlinking with same sites on shared web hosting as all sites on a shared server have same C class IP. In this case analyzing pattern of search engines depend a lot but obvious theory by SEO specialists is to avoid interlinking with sites on same server.

If you have checked your IP address, it looks in the format of (111.222.333.444). In this example IP address block No.3 is known as C block. Web Hosting companies get different C class IPs from there vendors or say hardware providers so chances are very obvious of getting different C class IP addresses if you host your websites with different web hosting providers. But in some cases web hosting companies may get services from same reseller so your chances of getting same C class IP address for both sites becomes rare. To avoid this situation, make a check with your existing IP address and the new service providers address and make sure you are hosting your sites on different C class IP addresses.

To make this long story bit shorter here is an example of same C class IP address for two different webmasters

Now an example of different C class IP addresses.

Finally, Google is very good in detecting such relationships and detecting your inter-links as bad ones but remember this is not the fix for any or every thing in your linking pattern. Many websites are ranking very high even with same C class IP addresses so do not worry if you do not have unique C class IP. To gain good rankings follow basic SEO techniques and at the same time focus on such minor issues to ensure even better results.

Basic Guidelines of SEO For Fresher

What are Search Engines and Directories?

Web sites offering search facilities are of 2 types. A search engine (SE) is a software system collected Index (suchlike Lycos, Hotbot etc.,) or a human composed directory (suchlike Google, Yahoo ,dmoz etc.,). Put differently, it is a huge database which contains links to every site that have been submitted to them including some details about each web site. The important difference between the two is that one is reviewed by a human and spiders and the other by a Spider or Robot only.

In a few cases the human who reviews your web site might decline it because it's not presented in the suitable category or if the web site isn't fine in its quality. But in the case of a computerised SE, a program known as a Robot or crawlers sent by the SE to visit the submitted web site, gather up the information about the web site then include it in the SE database. These Robots are quicker and not as choosy as humans.

How to optimize your site?

Prior to submitting your web site to whatever SE you will need to be sure it's ready. You might want prepare the webpage title, META tags (keywords and Description) and some of the first few lines of text of the page you submit

Title -Tag

The SE will afford a high degree of importance on the words in the title. So, whenever someone is searching for "SEO Guide" and if the phrase "SEO Guide" is in the title of the web site then there's a fine probability of the web site coming out on the first page of a search. If you open the HTML source of this webpage you'd find something that appears like this.

[Title]SEO Guide[/Title]

You want to type your title of your web site in the place between as it is shown above.

META tags

META tags declare all the details about your web site to a SE. They're veiled in the code of the site and may afford a different data to the search engines for instance, keywords, description, author and more. Whilst these are all non-mandatory in any web page it is a must for marketing your web site through SEs. Each SE applies its own weigh to each META tag.so it is important to acknowledge several things that interest these search engines.

It's very important to formulate the keywords carefully so that any user who's using a SE could discover your web site once he/she enters the appropriate keywords or phrases.. You had better come up with a set of keywords that precisely fit into the content of your web site and its goals and intention.

You need to actually work hard on detecting the finest keywords. Try and put yourself in the shoes of the human searching for your site. What words or phrases would s/he apply?

This is as well a META tag that tells the SE about your web site. It's the description that comes out under the title in the search results. This had better be close to 50 to 60 words. The description is often hard to prepare. On the one hand it of necessity to be really attracting and cause the human to click and go to your web site. Then again it had better contain fine keywords and phrases to get a high ranking in the search results. To get a good ranking it's essential to develop a really good description which echoes your title and at the least one or two keywords on which you would like to focus.

What is Spamming?

SEs are really sensitive to the information that you give them. The keywords that you use could be echoed in the title, keywords, description and in the content. This is okay simply there's a limits in doubling the keywords. You ought be very careful of how many times you echo them. All the SEs will permit a certain level of repeating of keyword. Still, whenever it's higher than what they allow, it will be counted as spamming and your page will never get indexed. The crawlers can calculate the keyword ratios quicker than you can.

Here are a few tips to avoid spamming:

1. Don't apply text color of same as the page background color to veil text.
2. Don't try to make one page for publicity to not switch it with another page after getting indexed.

How to Register your webpages?

Submitting a web site to whatever SE is fairly simple. On the home page of the SE locate the "Add your web site" or "Register url" or "Submit your web site" link. Plainly follow the instructions afforded by each SE to add your web site. A few of the SEs may expect you to submit all the pages that you wish to be indexed, for instance AltaVista. Some require that you submit only one page URL of your entire web site and all the left pages will be spidered. This means that the SE will automatically add the remaining pages. Google is an good example of this. In Google there's no direct link like "Add URL", then where will you submit it? Just do a search at Google.

Submitting to the directories like Yahoo!, dmoz, and Looksmart is a boring job. As they keep web pages below separate categories, you'll need to find the finest category under which your web site will fit. Remember, these are watched by humans. If you submit to inapplicable categories it might be counted spamming causing your web site submission could be dropped.

How to get Get listed?

At present you know that submitting your situation isn't a head honcho, simply how sure are you that your web site will be indexed? Getting indexed is nothing only getting a place for your site in the SE database. How do you check if your web site has been added to the SE? It's easy. If you search with your URL or domain name as the keyword and the results of the search will show whether you are indexed in that SE.

Each SE has its own policies to accept URLs that have been submitted. Some SEs take less time than others to get you listed. Be patient. Directories take a lot of time as they require person intervention. It's effective practise to resubmit the pages once in 30 or 40 days no matter of whether the web site has been listed or not.

Where are you?

If your web site has been listed then you might wish to know where you rank. If you are able to find your web site in the first twenty positions you've done a good job. If you're not ranked in the first 2 pages, then again you need to do some work. To save time finding your rank you are able to use a position analysis tools. But we do not recommend any tools.

Your Web Sites Needs SEO For High Ranking

There's only one way to guarantee success on the Internet. It's through the search engine, and every successful website, no matter which, has made its way from deserted-ville to Rushville through search engine only. That's why if you plan to have a business on the Internet, and you plan to have Internet really work for you, you cannot ignore the Search Engine.

Search engine today practically means Google, the largest, the meanest, the most comprehensive and the most intelligent search engine that has ever been in existence. Google.com has the biggest number of servers, and crawls almost the entire Internet looking for hot new pages and websites to serve their clients with.

Google's CEO Eric Schmidt famously once said, 'Internet is a cesspool', and it's Google's job to sift through the cesspool and find all the useful web pages and sites for the searchers. To make that happen google has created a secret algorithm that nobody has access to. This secret algorithm ranks all the webpages that are in google's database. When a user searches a term, Google checks the ranking for all the pages in the database, and serves them according to the ranking. This way only the best pages make it to the top of the search engine, which means only the best pages get visitors.

The battle for you then is to be at the top in Google. It's not enough to have a website, and get indexed by Google. You have to impress Google so that you're continuously at the top of the search engine and people who search for your products actually find you instead of the competition. Does it sound tough already?

Yes, it's tough. It's really tough to be at the top in Google search because a million other entities worldwide are vying for the same position. They're employing every little documented and undocumented trick to get higher rankings and earn a better position in Google. This makes it a very specialised job, and not everybody has the knowledge and the capacity to do this.

The work of checking the web pages for quality, enhancing them to be search engine friendly and doing extra work to boost their rank in the search engine is called SEO (Search engine optimization). It is one of the most specialized jobs on the Internet and good SEO experts are one of the most sought after assets for an Internet business.

If you have started an Internet based venture, make sure your website is SEO optimized. But that's only the first step. Your website is SEO optimized, but so are a thousand others. To beat them on the search engine you need to build links and references. This can only be done by a Professional SEO company.

A pro SEO company will check your website for defects, and will then suggest methods to improve ranking. They will also run link building campaigns to boost your ranking on Google. Resulting in better visibility and more visitors to your website.

Which Are The Right Keyword Research Tools

Is increasing your website traffic is on of your goals or perhaps you would like to achieve a good listing in the organic search results. What method will you employ to drive targeted traffic to your website; will it be Pay Per Click?

If the answer to the above questions is yes then you should read further to learn more about the importance of using a good keyword research tool. Generating good rankings in the organic results is becoming more and more difficult; it is almost impossible to obtain good rankings for many words and keyword phrases.

The lifeblood of any website is the traffic but with so many of the most popular words and phrases tied up to long established websites, with links that dominate the search engine organic listings, it can appear an almost insurmountable task.

But you can still achieve website success even if it is located within a competitive market; you simply need to select quality to help you find profit. To explain further, there are certain keywords, known as long tail keywords or keyphrases, which are normally much easier to target because they typically comprise of 3 or more keywords, presenting a bigger target. And the keyphrases are usually not as competitive, an advantage in itself, but more specifically they offer a more explicit search, so if you can deliver the related content you stand a better chance of making money with them. As you are no doubt aware the more words used during a search the more specific the data being searched for and if you can provide that data it will be you that benefits financially.

A good research tool should possess the ability to find you low competition long tail keyphrases; and if you can develop relevant content around these long tail keyphrases you should manage to compete even in fairly contentious subject matter.

But yet again the best type of research tool for the job will cost some money; just remember that the amount you spend will be small compared to the amount of time and effort the laboriously manual research will cost you.

If using Google AdWords to drive quality traffic to your site is something you have considered, then you definitely need to obtain a good keyword research tool.

Typically, most people run their AdWords campaigns through a process of trial and error; bidding on a bunch, watching which words produce results or not and concentrating expenditure on the final selection of productive keywords. But this can wind up becoming quite expensive in the long run and can cost you a significant portion of your overall budget, and no one wants to waste money on worthless words.

A good keyword research tool can be used for your AdWords campaign and actually save you money, some versions can also allow you to legally spy on your AdWords competition. Not only that, it will also tell you which phrases are profitable to your competitors allowing you the luxury of swooping in to cherry pick their profitable phrases after wasting their money on the trial and error selection process.

No matter whether you would like to get traffic from organic or Pay Per Click, the best method is to obtain a good paid research tool. It will save you time and effort; it will help you run more profitably; it should allow you to automate tasks and help you expand and develop your business making it more profitable.

Basic Tips For Promoting Web Sites With SEO

Every online business needs a plan, system, or guide for website promotional ideas and methods, a model for how to advertise to attract and build a community of raving fans who value your help and expertise, and who are proud to be your long-term, loyal customers.

  1. Write articles where you reveal strategies, tactics, tips and tools that will help your target market achieve success in their niche. If your focus is on how a newbie can win the national Chili Cook-off, then you'll get attention by revealing what you've learned over years of fixing chili. And you'll attract your target audience by going into detail on the recipe research you've done, the unique natural spices you use, the frustrating mistakes, and the discoveries you've made about the tricks and techniques of other top chili cooks.
  2. Really leverage that chili research you've done. As you read the stories of consistent top chili cooks, write down words that the search engines might associate with chili cooking or chili contests. Words like judge, jalapeno, beef, first place ... and many more ... fall under the keyword category called "latent semantic indexing." The more of these relevant trigger words the search engines see in your popular articles on chili cooking, the more they conclude that you are a real expert, deserving of high rank in that search category.
  3. Search engines also highly value a site with quality inbound links. One way to get these links is to offer a free "Chili Ebook" download from your website. Compile some of your blog posts to make the ebook, and offer the download on appropriate forums and other social networking websites where your target audience gathers, all over the internet. This type of plan, done over and over, and get you that steady stream of inbound links that the search engines love.

Important Techniques of Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is crucial for website to be ranked well in many search engines. Once your website is ranked well in the search engine, it will directly increase your website traffic naturally and vice-versa. Hence, in order to sustain and achieve successful business in internet, it is undoubtedly essential to have SEO for your website and a successful website acts as a free advertisement for your company. Here are the useful tactics for you to do SEO:

Internal SEO Techniques.

  1. SEO is done not only when your website is fully developed, in fact, you need to do your SEO while your website is being developed. Hence, using CSS Coding is essential to produce a search engine friendly website. As compared to traditional HTML coding, CSS coding greatly reduces coding size and thus increase loading speed. Moreover, CSS will cache on user's web browser and it can subsequently reduce the need to contact with the server for the layout and images.
  2. Incorporating targeted keywords in your website. This is essential because the relevant keywords that match your products or services are what readers always use for searching. Hence, you need to be specific while choosing keywords and it is better if you set them as bold or italic to attract attention from search engine. Remember not to include just a keyword because it is not enough for your website to be tracked by search engines and try to include keyword in your domain name, it will add advantage for your website. It is vital to include search engine META tags to your website, especially, META keywords and META description. This insertion helps search engines to understand the important words of your content.
  3. Website content does matter. What had been mentioned above will not be effective if your content is not relevant. You need to provide relevant content that matches your title so that reader will find it informative and resourceful. For example, a website will not be well ranked if its title and META title is about animal but the content is about plant.
  4. Reduce the flash animation and AJAX animation and even some silver light animation. This is because major search engine only love text content even Google claims that it can crawl flash but there is no 100% guarantee and it does not mean other search engines are able to crawl flash.

External SEO Technique.

Increase the back link with other website will convince search engines that your website is informative and resourceful. To increase your back link, you need to add a hyperlink from other websites to your website. There are many places for you to include the link, for example, reply a forum, gives comment in the blog, add your website to directories and submission of articles but do not forget to include the link of your website URL and only submit to related category and subject. Otherwise, you may be penalized into search engines' sand box.

How to Use Meta Tags

Meta tags are pieces of text placed in the top, header part of the page to describe what the page is about. While they are not as important as they once were for search engine rankings, well written tags can still help with SEO (search engine optimization) while providing visitors with valuable information about your site. Being quick and easy to make, they are well worth adding to your site.

Title Tag

The title tag is the most important meta tag not only for search engines, but for visitors to your site. It will usually be displayed to users on the SERP (search engine result page) as the blue link. It is also displayed the top of their browser window and in the description if users favorite your site. Therefore, it should be as crisp, clear, descriptive and enticing as possible to anyone reading it.

For search engine optimization, the following rules should be followed:

  • The title should contain around 15-65 characters or 5-8 words.

  • Use the keywords and phrases selected for the demographic you are targeting. This keywords should also be on the page.

  • The title should vary with each page's theme and target keywords.

  • Try not to repeat words in the title since this wastes description space and may be considered spam by some search engines.

  • Avoid words like "A", "The", "With" and only use punctuation where absolutely necessary.

  • Capitalize the first letter of each word.

Description Tag

While not as important as the title tag, the description tag certainly has enough relevance with many search engines to warrant the time and effort to be made properly and included on every page. The description tag may appear on the SERP depending on the search engine and factors such as DMOZ registration (Google will often use the DMOZ description on the SERP) and the ability of the search engine to generate a description from the page content. Therefore, it needs to be written in fashion that is clear, descriptive and enticing to readers.

The description tag should be kept under two sentences with the first sentence containing the most important keywords. While longer descriptions of up to 250 characters are ok, most search engines will cut off descriptions of over 150 characters so it is best to keep them under that length.

Some points about the meta description page to keep in mind:

  • Putting the most important keywords at the beginning or middle of the sentence can sometimes help with your rankings.

  • Avoid repeating keywords since this may be considered spamming.

  • Vary your description for each page according to the page content.

Keywords Tag

Due to keyword spamming, most search engines now ignore this tag. However, it is the easiest tag to make and still has some value with some search engines. It is most useful in targeting obscure terms and regions. For this tag, simply insert words and phrases separated by commas. As with the title and description tags, use targeted keywords that appear on the page. Do not repeat words or use to many words to avoid spamming penalties. Note that none of the meta tags are case sensitive with search engines so capitalization is a matter of appearance and makes no difference in this tag. Also, all meta tags should appear within the head section of each page. While they have declined in importance, meta tags, especially the title tag, are still certainly important enough to warrant being taken seriously and done correctly both for enticing site visitors as well as for SEO.

SEO Techniques

When you take out a search engine optimisation campaign the thing you need to take into consideration is the SEO techniques that are going to be used for the optimisation of your website.
Many internet marketing companies use unethical SEO techniques with their search engine optimisation campaigns. You have to be careful that you choose a search engine optimisation company who uses ethical and successful SEO techniques in their work.

There are many unethical SEO techniques which SEO companies or an advertising company may use in their work which do not deliver the results anticipated at the time you purchase a company website design search engine optimisation. You need to be careful that the company you choose does not advertise by using any unethical SEO techniques, as this can limit the potential of your internet advertising campaign.SEO techniques which are deemed unethical include meta-tag spamming, title spamming, hidden text, NOSCRIPT content spamming and doorway and gateway pages. These are the SEO techniques you should look to stay away from when proceeding with online media solutions.

Meta-tag Spamming

Meta-tag spam is one of the unethical SEO techniques some internet marketing companies use.
Meta-tags are html content search engine spiders use to quickly reference the content of your web page. What some companies do is spam the meta-tags "keyword" element with a long list of repeated search terms, they also then repeat this list in the "description" element of the meta-tags.This is unethical form of SEO techniques as the correct way to use meta-tags is to place relevant keywords and a description about the web page itself in the meta-tags.

Title Spamming

Title spamming is also amongst the list of SEO techniques deemed unethical by internet marketing companies. As with meta-tags some website design search engine optimisation companies place a long list of keywords in the title tags of the pages. The correct way to use the title tags is to place a descriptive brief in the title tag relevant to the web page itself. These have to be done properly because it is through title tags that search engine spiders identify your web pages and what they relate to.

Hidden Text

Another one of the unethical SEO techniques is hidden text when carrying out company website optimisation.Hidden text is when you try to place a long list of keywords on the page and style them with a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS Style) to be "invisible" or blended into the web page.
This technique is useless as search engine spiders recognise that you have tried to hide the content and can penalise your site for it.Our SEO Consultancy team recommend strongly that you stay away from using hidden text on the pages as it can seriously de-value the other SEO techniques which may have been employed on your company website for your search engine optimisation campaign.

NOSCRIPT, when abused, is another one of the undesirable and unethical SEO techniques which may be used in your SEO promotion campaign. The NOSCRIPT is content which is not visible on the web page when viewed in a browser, but is visible to the search engine spiders. When used correctly, NOSCRIPT can be beneficial to your company website. Our SEO Consultancy advise that if you do decide to use NOSCRIPT content that you do not spam the content with loads of keywords continuously repeated.

Doorway and Gateway Pages

The use of doorway or gateway pages are another form of undesirable SEO techniques for company website optimisation. There are pages that are created to redirect to your homepage once clicked on.This is done via a meta-tag redirect script. This is mainly done by companies selling sex toys and Viagra. They optimise doorway or gateway pages for high searched terms, for example "cheap computers", then once the pages are clicked on you are redirected to their website. Our website promotion consultants do not recommend this as they are completely useless and will not be beneficial to your website.

Unethical SEO Techniques

As you have read there are many unethical SEO techniques which online marketing companies use.You have to be completely sure that you have chosen the right search engine optimisation company who employ correct SEO techniques to use for your clever SEO advertising.

SEO Tricks

First of all, when you are choosing a search engine optimization company you want to find one that has a website with up-to-date information. If you are on a website and see a company stating that Yahoo charges $199 per year to index your site, this is old information. Yahoo now charges $299 per year. If the SEO website you are on states Alltheweb.com or Altavista.com have a basic free submit service, this is out-of-date information. These two search engines have gone over to the "dark side" and have joined Overture in the pay-per-click business model.

Of all of the websites on the Internet that should display the latest information, the SEO companies should be at the top of this list. This is our game. Old information on any website is bad news (except for archived information that is).

Some search engine optimization companies will guarantee that you see significant results within 15 days for a new website. This is an unrealistic statement that no reputable SEO company would make. Most significant results from search engine optimization and submission will occur in months, not days. Some search engines like Google and MSN may index your site within 30 days, but if you have a new site, your search engine placement will be in a sort of "holding tank" for a while and may be buried in the search engine database for another 30-60 days. Sure, your site may be listed, in short order but it will take additional time to gain prominence in the search engine rankings.

Also, some search engine optimization companies will guarantee newbies high-ranking results on low-traffic keywords that have little competition in the search engines. If you are an SEO company who is not concerned about your customer, this approach makes sense. There are fewer high-traffic keywords than low-traffic keywords and the high-traffic keywords generally have much more competition.

There is an SEO scam on the Internet that consumers need to be aware of called the "I'll host your optimized pages" scam. In the "I'll host your optimized pages" scam you do not have control of your own web pages and basically pay ransom to the host company on an ongoing basis. Once you miss a payment your web pages may disappear or the optimization you had previous paid for will be wiped clean.

Have you been unfortunate enough to receive the SEO spam scam? This is the email scam that starts out, "I've noticed you are not listed on some search engines." You may have gotten this email even though you are listed number 1 on all of the major search engines. First, any reputable SEO company will not spam you to gain business. The first quest of any SEO company is to try to get to the top of the search engines, not send out spam. Second, this email is not specific to you or your company. Like all spam, the spammers send out thousands of emails hoping a small percentage pay off for big profits. Many of the reputable SEO sites now have ethics statements on their sites. Ethical website optimization includes no cloaking, no deceptive practices and no spamming.

This list is not comprehensive so it is a good idea to ask your SEO company questions upfront and that you receive answers to your satisfaction before you jump onboard. Also, if you have had any bad experiences with some SEO companies not covered here, please send us an email so that we may include what to watch out for in this section and warn other consumers.

Top SEO Tips For High Ranking

From the obvious to the "Hey-I-never-thought-of-that-great-idea-before", here are the top tips on how to optimize your website for its turbo-charge rocket ride up the search engine rankings.

Be bold. Use the tags around some of your keywords on each page. Do NOT use them everywhere the keyword appears. Once or twice is plenty.

Deep linking. Make sure you have links coming in to as many pages as possible. What does it tell a search engine when other web sites are linking to different pages on your site? That you obviously have lots of worthwhile content. What does it tell a search engine that all your links are coming in to the home page? That you have a shallow site of little value, or that your links were generated by automation rather than by the value of your site. Here is an example of deep linking, in this case to my personal happiness workbook.

Newsletters. Offer articles to ezine publishers that archive their ezines. The links stay live often for many years in their archives.

First come, first served. If you must have image links in your navigation bar, include also text links. However, make sure the text links show up first in the source code, because search engine robots will follow the first link they find to any particular page. They won't follow additional links to the same page. You can see this in action at the link to the home page on this web site monitoring page.

Multiple domains. If you have several topics that could each support their own website, it might be worth having multiple domains. Why? First, search engines usually list only one page per domain for any given search, and you might warrant two. Second, directories usually accept only home pages, so you can get more directory listings this way. Why not a site dedicated to gumbo pudding pops?

Article exchanges. You've heard of link exchanges, useless as they generally are. Article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. You publish someone else's article on the history of pudding pops with a link back to their site. They publish your article on the top ten pudding pop flavors in Viet Nam, with a link back to your site. You both have content. You both get high quality links. (More on high quality links in other tips.)

Titles for links. Links can get titles, too. Not only does this help visually impaired surfers know where you are sending them, but some search engines figure this into their relevancy for a page.

Not anchor text. Don't overdo the anchor text. You don't want all your inbound links looking the same, because that looks like automation - something Google frowns upon. Use your URL sometimes, your company name other times, "Gumbo Pudding Pop" occasionally, "Get gumbo pudding pops" as well, "Gumbo-flavored pudding pops" some other times, etc.

Site map. A big site needs a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This will help the search engine robots find every page with just two clicks. A small site needs a site map, too. It's called the navigation bar. See how the second navigation bar at the bottom of Last Minute Florida Villas is like a mini-site map?

There is a lot more to search engine optimization, and there are always more details when looking at an individual site. But these tips should help any website significantly improve its rankings.
